We're WAGNUM, an Australian recovery brand, so this compares our own boots with Normatec. We've kept it honest about where Normatec is better.
Normatec alternatives in Australia: the short answer
Normatec is the benchmark, but in Australia it costs about A$1,500 to A$2,000. You can get the same core technology, sequential air compression from feet to hips, for well under half that:
- Best overall alternative: WAGNUM Elite Air (A$589.99). Our best-selling boot. A cordless controller with up to 4 hours of battery, 50 to 200 mmHg across 16 levels, and optional hip and arm attachments (A$269.90 each), so one controller covers legs, hips and glutes, and arms.
- Best value for home: WAGNUM LegPro (A$469.99). Four overlapping chambers and 50 to 150 mmHg, at about a third of the price of Normatec 3. It plugs into the wall, so it's best for recovery on the couch.
- Best hose-free alternative to Normatec Elite: WAGNUM Fuel.X (A$599.90). The pumps are built into the boots, with no hoses or separate controller, five overlapping chambers and up to 3 hours of battery.
- Choose Normatec if you want the Hyperice app, ZoneBoost, a Short or Tall size, or the brand most pro teams use.

Normatec prices and specs are from NovoFit, Hyperice's Australian distributor, and Hyperice, checked 25 October 2026. Higher maximum pressure isn't automatically better; a comfortable, well-fitted sequence matters more.
What the extra A$1,000 for Normatec buys (and what it doesn't)
All five systems work the same way: air chambers inflate in sequence from the feet up, squeezing and releasing the legs. The physics doesn't change with the price. What changes is the extras.
What Normatec does better
- The app and ZoneBoost. Bluetooth control and the option to add extra time and pressure to one area, such as tight calves.
- Three sizes. Short, Standard and Tall, so people under about 166 cm or over 200 cm get a better fit.
- Brand and resale. It's the name most pro teams use, and it holds its value second-hand.
What you don't get by paying more
- More pressure. Normatec tops out around 110 mmHg. LegPro reaches 150 mmHg and Elite Air and Fuel.X 200 mmHg, all adjustable in 10 mmHg steps, which suits bigger athletes or anyone who likes a firmer flush. Most people recover comfortably well below the maximum.
- Proven better recovery. No head-to-head research shows one sequential compression boot speeds recovery more than another.
- Local delivery and support. WAGNUM ships free from our Sydney warehouse, and warranty claims are handled in Australia.
Which one should you buy?
| If you are... | Our pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Recovering at home after runs, rides or gym sessions | LegPro | The lowest price for full-leg sequential compression; it lives next to the couch, so mains power is no drawback |
| A runner or triathlete who travels to races | Fuel.X | No hoses or controller to pack; each boot charges and runs on its own |
| Training hips and glutes too (squats, sprinting, team sport) | Elite Air | The only WAGNUM boot with hip and arm attachments |
| A bigger athlete who likes firm pressure | Elite Air or Fuel.X | Up to 200 mmHg, almost double Normatec's top setting |
| Shorter than 166 cm or taller than 200 cm | Normatec | Its Short and Tall sizes will fit better than our Medium and Large |
| Wanting app control and data | Normatec | WAGNUM boots are controlled on the unit, with no app |
| A clinic, gym or sports club | LegPro or Elite Air | Several stations for the price of one Normatec; ask about our trade pricing |
Do compression boots actually work?
The honest answer: they help you feel better, which is why athletes use them so much. Research so far shows sequential compression can reduce how sore and heavy your legs feel after hard training and improve circulation while you use them. The evidence that they speed up muscle repair, or improve your next session, is still limited.
Treat them as one part of recovery, alongside sleep, food and sensible training loads, not a replacement for any of those. If you have a blood clot, a circulation or heart condition, or you're pregnant, check with your doctor before using compression boots.

FAQ
Is there a cheaper alternative to Normatec in Australia? Yes. WAGNUM LegPro (A$469.99), Elite Air (A$589.99) and Fuel.X (A$599.90) use the same sequential air compression as Normatec, at well under half the price. You give up the Hyperice app, ZoneBoost and Normatec's Short and Tall sizes.
Is the WAGNUM LegPro as good as Normatec? For everyday recovery at home, it does the same job: four overlapping chambers squeeze from feet to thighs, from 50 to 150 mmHg in 10 mmHg steps. Normatec 3 adds app control, ZoneBoost and a portable battery, for roughly three times the price.
What's the difference between LegPro, Elite Air and Fuel.X? LegPro plugs into the wall and is the best value for home use. Elite Air has a cordless controller and optional hip and arm attachments. Fuel.X has the pumps built into the boots, so there are no hoses or controller.
Can compression boots work on hips and glutes? Yes, with a hip attachment. The WAGNUM Elite Line Hip Attachment (A$269.90) wraps the hips and glutes and runs from the same cordless Elite Air controller as the boots. It suits squats, sprinting and team sport, where the glutes and hip flexors take the load.
How much pressure do I need? Most people are comfortable in the middle settings. Higher pressure suits bigger athletes or a firmer flush, but more isn't automatically better, so start low and build up.
How long should a session be? Most people use 20 to 30 minutes after training or in the evening. Follow the manual, and stop if you feel pain, numbness or tingling.
Which size do I need? Medium fits about 166 to 185 cm and Large about 186 to 200 cm, with thigh, calf and ankle limits on each product page. If you're outside that range, Normatec's Short or Tall sizes may suit you better.
Are WAGNUM compression boots wireless? Fuel.X is fully hose-free, and Elite Air has a cordless controller. LegPro runs on mains power.
Do you deliver to New Zealand? Yes. All three boots ship to New Zealand, with shipping priced by weight at checkout.
